Effects of 11-hydroxy-THC
11-hydroxy-THC believed to be 2-3 times more potent than THC may result in significantly stronger psychoactive effects. Since orally ingested THC requires digestion, it can take up to 1-2 hours for the effects to manifest.
The impact of 11-hydroxy THC on the brain and body has not been extensively researched. However, the prolonged duration of edibles’ effects and the potential for stronger psychoactivity from 11-hydroxy THC suggest that it could be beneficial in treating chronic pain and insomnia. Individuals who are not tolerant of THC, may find the effects overpowering.
While 11-hydroxy THC produces psychoactive effects similar to THC, it has a quicker onset. Unfortunately, the body has low absorption rates for this compound and it is challenging to maintain its stability without using solvents.
Although THC is often preferred for using medical cannabis to alleviate pain and stress, 11-hydroxy THC does have its own advantages, particularly for managing inflammation. However, there is a lack of in-depth research on the medicinal and therapeutic properties of this metabolite, which is also true for THC.
